You never got to know your colonist, or value them. Sorry, but I found banished to be a boring experience that was just about optimizing your layout and that was about it. I am gonna check out Banished since it's on sale (apparently Life is Feudal is not worth it yet), but I am intrigued by all the responses and I will definitely consider some of them in the future. You guys are the experts, do you recommend one over the other?ĮDIT: Thanks everybody for the replies.

I hear Forest Village is pretty much one big expansion away from feeling like a finished game. I've heard Banished gets repetitive pretty quickly and has no overarching goals once you have the basics set up. However, both have kind of mediocre reviews. With some research, I've found that both "Banished" and "Life is Feudal: Forest Village" look pretty promising. I'm looking to try this genre out, and I'm particularly looking for something with a medieval aesthetic and some RPG elements. Turns out, base building games pretty much have it covered. It has made me fantasize about a game where you act as a god guiding a village or a group of survivors into growing and expanding into a thriving city or kingdom.
